QUICK FIX FOR EVERYTHING

QUICK FIX FOR EVERYTHING

Well sorry friends, there isn't one.  There isn't a magic pill either.  And we can't insist on doing the bare minimum.  As a society we are obsessed with having things faster and easier.  But does this bring us happiness??  Doesn't seem to.  Just look at the statistics of our country when it comes to happiness, job retention, and depression.

I would argue that this unhappiness comes from the realization that there is no magic pill, there is not success in completing the bare minimum.  And this is why I believe that we are so obsessed in finding an easy way for everything.  Making money, relationships, losing weight, finding love, raising kids.  We do this for two reasons:

1. We don't want to admit that is might take effort, consistency to change.  We'd rather believe that it is all about luck and timing.  That people have what we want because they were some how in the right place at the right time and they are just more fortunate than we are.  Included in this we don't want to admit to ourselves that we may not be doing as much as we say we are doing?  We use social media for our business and we spend hours on end "doing" work but what are we really getting done?

2. We don't want to admit there might be more to life then what we have experienced or are experiencing.  I was having a conversation with a dear friend yesterday and I realized maybe part of the reason I didn't want to change and put in more effort to my business is to do this I would have to admit to myself that I wasn't in the place I wanted to be and I has wasted so much time standing stagnate.  This hurts, well maybe you don't agree but I hate feeling that my time has been wasted, or like I love to say waited.  I don't feel like it is a waste to wait (as good things come to those who wait) but waiting for something to happen is NOT how to get things done.  We might also understand with this new realization of FOMO that we have to start fresh.  And for many of us this can be a daunting task.

I believe these are the two reasons why we search out the easy fix, or the magic pill.  We don't want to admit that maybe we have been wrong about your approach, that we have been stagnate, or that it might take some effort and time to get what we truly want.

Like always I never want to leave you to just think about these things I want to give you some of my solutions to remedy this addiction for the easy for the bare minimum.

A. Know that small steps forward are steps forward.  Nothing is like doing something small consistently for a long amount of time.  This builds and grows and creates change.  And it much more effective then big bursts and then large amounts of rest (think torturous and the hair, or fuel efficiency).  Over time this constant action will get you to your goal.

B. Get YOUR MIND RIGHT FIRST.  If you don't do this and you go into change making thinking it's going to suck, it's dumb, its going to be hard then guess what?  You are going to be absolutely correct.  Your mindset determines your outcome (90% of your outcome at least).  So here are some ideas on how to get your mind right
         1. LOVE LIST:  this is everything you love about the task at hand.  Example: Working out, the new shoes, the feeling after, the feeling that you accomplished something, the changes in your body, the opportunity to meet new people, the playlist.  By focusing on things that you love about your task the more you will want to do it, and benefit more from it.
         2. THANKFUL LIST:  list everything that you are thankful for when doing the task at hand.  Example: Working out, that you will feel better, that you will have more energy, that you will be healthier for your children, that you will spend less on doctors visits, that you have the ability to do it. By focusing on the things that you are thankful for it also gets you excited to get it done.
         3. MEDITATION:  this is one of the best things you can do.  Center yourself with guided mediation before you start your journey.  By putting your mind at ease you stop worrying about all the reasons you don't want to do something.

C.  PLAN AHEAD.  Two ways you can do this is to make commitments that you can't break (signing up for a class, hiring a coach or personal trainer, putting it in your schedule book).  And having an accountability partner.  By planning ahead you will be sure to be consistent and accountable for your actions.  It is also easier to form a habit like this.  And as I have said in some of my other blogs once you make something a habit you do it automatically without everything about it.

I'd love to help you with changes you want to make in your life, like having more energy, building better relationship with yourself, losing weight, or even breaking the cycle of giving up.  Send me an email if you think that you have been chasing that magic pill for too long and you are ready to make some changes by being consistent.

As always with love and sparkles,

Kathryn
